State Troopers to Crack Down on Drunken Drivers During Labor Day

Many Tennesseans use pretty much any holiday as a reason to celebrate and spend time with friends socializing and having drinks. Unfortunately, many Tennesseans drink too much at such gatherings and make the unfortunate decision to get behind the wheel of a vehicle. Recognizing the increased danger posed by the upcoming Labor Day holiday (which also happens to coincide with the start of football season which is another aggravating condition for DUI increases) the Tennessee Highway Patrol has promised that its troopers will be out in full force looking for drivers who may be operating their vehicles while under the influence and cutting such drivers no slack once they find them.

While such roadblocks are often employed around the holidays and do succeed in catching many drivers who should not be on the road, the truth is that no such procedures can keep every drunk driver off of the roadways. Every year, DUI-related accidents plague the various holidays and often result in serious injury or death to other motorists. Last year alone, there were nine reported deaths stemming from traffic-related accidents occurring during the Labor Day weekend.

Unfortunately, many Tennesseans are injured in DUI or other traffic-related accidents every year during this time. Serious injuries can result from these crashes and cause substantial medical bills, property damage, lost wages, or even death for unfortunate victims who were at little or no fault for the accident. Such victims deserve to recover for their injuries to the full extent allowed by Tennessee law. Consulting a skilled personal injury attorney can help a victim or that victims’ family in recovering for the pain and suffering caused by the accident as well as any other losses the victims or their families may have suffered as a result.
